Wayne Russell is a character of the comic strips protagonist of the serious Bring the Thunder published by Dynamite Comics.

The protagonist Wayne Russell is a parachutist of elite of the Air Force that it lends service in Afghanistan. To head of a troop of men that has rigorously trained, it conducts them in the most dangerous missions in the hostile territory. Just during a deadly mission its team falls in an ambush. Mortally wounded, Wayne finds a futuristic weapon from the enormous power destructive and, to short of alternatives, it uses her/it... but with unexpected consequences. A malfunction of the weapon will change forever its life. Wayne is pronounced dead in Afghanistan and his/her family a terrible moment lives, with his/her child's entry in an ugly turn. But when the man returns home one year after the things they drastically change. At the end of his/her adventures Wayne must encounter in an epic battle against Fariad, an Afghan sniper that has some sonic powers... just as him.
