Original Title:
Dreamscapes is directed by Vince J. Trenton, and the cast includes Annick Van Couwenberghe. It ss presented these days at the Cannes market
In the landscape of TV series, a new project emerges that challenges the conventional boundaries between fiction and reality. "Dreamscapes of the Dispersed and Echoes of Aspiration," created by visionary director Vince J. Trenton, explores the mental struggles of artists in a world driven by constant pressure, where actors are always emotionally exposed.
"We're not hiding behind characters, we're using our own stories, real emotions, our psychological scars," explains Trenton, who serves as both director and co-star. "It's terrifying, but also liberating. The people who joined the project felt this was more than just acting – it was a shared artistic therapy, an opportunity to say something bigger."
The plot centers on characters seeking success. "Dreamscapes is a psychological series that blurs the line between fiction and reality. It delves into the mental struggles of artists in a world driven by pressure and rejection. The characters – who are essentially versions of ourselves – aren't just chasing success for fame or recognition. They're desperate because they want to restore a sense of value."
These days, the series is at the Cannes Film Market to close the first round of funding. It's already possible to participate in the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com.
Actress Annick Van Couwenberghe plays one of the main characters, who shares her name with the protagonist. "I play a mother and wife who struggles with the balance between spending essential time with her family or pursuing her acting career," says Annick. "She has a dream she yearns to chase, but as we all know, finding your way in the film industry isn't an easy task. It requires a lot of work: networking, refining your skills, staying updated on what's moving in the industry. So, on one hand my character wants to succeed, invest in that hard work, but this could mean losing what's dear to her: her connection and her family's love. Her family is simultaneously her strength and her weakness."
The team was immediately attracted to the project. "I met J. Trenton, our director and co-star, last year in Cannes. He has a great vision for the project. Besides pitching and directing, he also acts in one of the main roles. He's the driving force behind this project. Our talented crew has a great eye for details and special effects, and joined our project little by little. We work with Yorick Van Ska for editing and crowdfunding and with Jay Ramharakh who's our DOP. Both joined the project early on. Recently Ophélie Lecomte and Yanko Vande Veegaete have been collaborating with us as VFX designers, along with our makeup artist Eef. I can't share much about the technical side of the project and visual effects yet, but the project is exciting and will certainly gain approval."
Annick Van Couwenberghe also stars in the third season of the successful TV series Dertigers, where she plays Agnes. "The third season will air on Belgian television on June 23. I can't reveal Agnes's storyline in this season yet. I can only say she'll definitely spice up the series. I recommend everyone rewatch the previous season on Vrtmax to refresh the plot before diving into the new season."
In Dertigers, we follow a group of friends living in the world of young thirty-somethings. Jonas, Laura, Ruben, Marvin, Nele, Sami, and Ada face pivotal life choices: moving in together, choosing between new or old loves, finding their place in a new circle of friends. "The series will expand the content that audiences love about 'Dertigers': snappy conversations, drama with a touch of comedy, relatable situations, misunderstandings and conflicts driven by characters who could live next door to you. Everyone knows an Agnes in their neighborhood, don't they? Everyone knows a conflicting couple or friends who weren't supposed to fall in love. That's why Belgian audiences love this series so much."
