Original Title:
Gia Coppola will be a guest at the eighth
edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, scheduled from June 19 to 22 in
Cagliari and at Forte Village. A director, screenwriter, and photographer,
Coppola has established herself as a distinctive voice in contemporary
independent cinema.
A member of the legendary Coppola family, she has
over the years carved out her own artistic identity through an elegant,
intimate, and deeply empathetic visual style. It is precisely for this artistic
sensibility, capable of combining tradition and modernity, family legacy and
personal exploration, that the Festival will present her with the Women Power
Excellence Award.
"We are thrilled and honored to welcome
Gia Coppola to the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival," declares Tiziana
Rocca, General Director of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival. "Gia represents
one of the new frontiers of international auteur cinema, capable of capturing
with a unique and profound gaze the contradictions of the human soul and the
transformations of contemporary society. Her presence is a source of great
pride for our Festival and a tangible sign of the increasingly strong
connection between American cinema and our country."
On this occasion, the director will present her
latest film, "The Last Showgirl," featuring a surprising Pamela
Anderson in an intense role far removed from stereotypes. The film—distributed
in Italy on April 3 by Be Water Film in collaboration with Medusa Film—tells
the story of a former Las Vegas showgirl confronting a second chance in life,
navigating regrets, rediscoveries, and new awareness. An emotional and sincere
feature that marks a turning point in Pamela Anderson's career, acclaimed for
her intense performance.
