For All Mankind is a streaming TV series. The action takes place on a space base on the planet Mars: the actors are Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour and Krys Marshall.

Danielle is on Mars. What is the planet like?

Well, Mars is a tough place to live. You know, of course, you have all the elements working against you. We have air that we can't breathe. We have a very thin atmosphere. There's no accessible water. Is Mars indoors? On the Mars base in season three, we see that the Happy Valley base is very small. It's just one hallway, basically two hallways. And because our group is stranded here now, they're running out of food, they're running out of resources, they're running out of fuel. They're hanging on for dear life. When we meet this group in season four, we see that the Mars base has now grown exponentially. There are multiple levels, there are sublevels. There are hundreds of people living there year-round. And the Mars base is bustling. It's less like a base on Mars and more like a naval base or a submarine. So it's very luxurious in the sense that we're still living on Mars, but it's also very harsh in many ways. You can't easily make a phone call home. You can't go shopping. You have to eat what's available in the cafeteria. Fortunately, both Ed and Danielle are there for the right reason. They realize that this is not a vacation, that their work is to continue to advance humanity and be able to live on another planet. And as we see throughout the season, many of our characters are not so happy on Mars. They would much rather go back to Earth.

How was the filming?

Well, the filming was amazing. I really love filming our show. We have a really tight-knit cast. When we're not filming the show, we spend our weekends together. We're together for each other's birthdays and baby showers and engagement parties. So we're all very close.

Is it true that you would arrive at the set late at night?

Filming is really long, think, you know, because of all the prosthetics that we wear; I would often come in at 03:00 or 04:00 in the morning. I know Joel had very early call times, sometimes at 02:00 in the morning. And so you spend hours in the makeup chair before you even get to the set, shoot the show, and then of course an hour in the makeup chair afterwards to remove all the makeup. So because we have such long hours, I think the thing that really helps us get through it is that we are good friends and close with each other and have so much fun together. Danielle has a character that is able to make a decision quickly.

Are there any similarities between her character and yours?

I have a hard time making decisions quickly, whereas Danielle is very decisive, knows exactly what she wants and makes the right decision quickly. I sometimes have a hard time deciding what is the right thing to do and I often ask my husband or my friends or colleagues for advice. So I'm not a good decision maker like Danielle is. I would say that something we both have in common is that we both have a real love for family. Danielle is very close to her family, she loves her stepson and her husband very much, she is very dutiful and very proud of where she comes from and I think we have that in common.

Thank you, Krys.

Thank you. E buon anno.
