'I opened my eyes to the horror of the animal agricultural industry': interview with actress Wendy Morgan
Did you involve other artists?
Gradually I would talk about what I was doing. I had a reading of an early draft. A lot of constructive critique and feedback. Then I tried to leave it because I knew it would be a lot of work. But it insisted within me so I had to go back to it. Gradually I would ask people to read drafts and give feedback and noticed that they began to like the way it was written. Then I performed it one night as a one person show with music, lights, tech and costume to an invited audience. It could then have become a theatre piece and was going to take it to Edinburgh but was too late for the festival. So, I then turned it into a film screenplay and asked people if they would like to act in it. Pretty soon I had an amazing cast. Then it all just snowballed. To make a film you need a village of people – I think I ended up with an entire continent!
