Interview Caitlin McNerney, star cast of TV series Reacher
Tv / Interview - 14 April 2025
"I really got into the role. People often joke that I could be a spy."

Let's meet Caitlin McNerney, star of the TV series Reacher. Can you tell us about the role of Annette in the third season of Reacher? How did you fit into the role?
Annette is the French maid working in the Beck household—quiet, observant, a little shy, and somewhat mysterious. She mostly interacts with Reacher, and over time, there’s a quiet mutual respect and understanding between them, which I really loved. What neither of them realizes is that they're working for different agencies… until Annette is tragically killed. I really connected with the role. People often joke that I could be a spy—I’ve lived in eight different countries and studied six languages, one of them being French, and I even lived and worked in Paris—so Annette felt quite familiar to me.
Is there an anecdote from the Reacher set that you can share with the fans?
I ate mountains of banana cream pie the day we shot the kitchen scene—the one where Reacher slams a goon’s head on the table after he disrespects Annette. We had to film it from so many different angles, and in a few takes, the director wanted to actually see the pie going into my mouth. I just kept eating and eating… by the end of the day, I felt properly ill. But hey, the consumption of food has a big place in the series, so I was happy to do my part.
I also genuinely felt like I got a masterclass in acting from Alan Ritchson. I remember we were filming his close-ups in episode three, and I was off-camera feeding him his lines. The stillness in that moment was so powerful—I actually got goosebumps. It was one of those moments where you realize you’re part of something really special.
Who is Caitlin McNerney, do you have a hobby, a favorite food, a movie or play that inspired you to become an actress?
I feel like I’ve been performing my whole life. My mom put me in dance classes when I was two, and I’ve always been drawn to the stage—whether it’s singing, dancing, or acting. I trained in musical theatre at drama school, and transitioned into film and TV over the past five years.
I feel like I’ve lived many different lives up until now. I’ve always worked in the arts, but I went from working in musical theatre, to doing stunts, to acting for film and TV. It’s been quite a unique, artistic journey—and honestly, I think I’ve just kept saying ‘yes’, and a lot of amazing things have happened because of that.
Outside of acting, I sing in a southern rock band—just for fun, though we’re actually pretty good! And, if it fits into my schedule, I’m meant to be doing a half-Ironman this summer… so wish me luck!
Coming Soon is expected in Wisteria, can you introduce your role and what this new romance will be about?
Sure! Wisteria is my first lead role in a feature film, which is exciting! I play Alana, a romance novelist who loses her husband in a tragic accident. It’s a story about love, loss, and the idea of finding each other again in another life. I can’t wait for people to see it.
We thank Caitlin McNerney for her availability and finally ask her if there is an actress or actor who has inspired her more than others in her career and if she can reveal her plans for the future beyond Wisteria?
I’ve followed Zoe Saldana’s career closely—‘Center Stage’ was a favorite of mine growing up! I really admire her commitment to her characters and the way she integrates movement into her performances. It’s something I truly aspire to as someone who comes from a movement background myself.
As for what’s next… I can’t reveal anything just yet. But the past nine years of my career have been full of surprises and exciting turns, so I have a feeling the next nine will be just as wild. Watch this space!
