Interview with actor of movie Joker, Josh Pais
You are the founder of Committed Impulse. What is it about?
Committed Impulse is a revolutionary approach to acting that I created and started teaching 20+ years ago. Most actor training comes from a 150 year old lineage that was very powerful at one time. But in this day and age - spontaneity, truth and impulse are the key ingredients to make any performance engaging. Audiences are constantly scanning for something real and truthful - Committed Impulse teaches actors how to create from their truth.
I get people to a state of pure impulse in their body and then teach them to bring this spontaneity to their acting. I’ve also created a simple set of tools that gets actors out of their judgmental minds and into the present moment. Plus I teach actors how to create characters by shifting the energetic patterns in their body that alters how they see the world, which results in spontaneous organic behavior.
