The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Japan Premiere, Anya Taylor-Joy Interview

"It's extraordinary. I think whoever cast this movie did such a wonderful job in terms of personalities and chemistry. I feel so lucky to get to know my co-stars better whilst exploring the most beautiful country—I'm obsessed with Japan. So to get to spend this time here and work here and spend time with its people, it's a dream. Her capability. 

I love the fact that there's no problem that she kind of throws her hands up at. She's always, 'Okay, what is the situation? What can I do about it?' and then she makes a plan and she gets it done. So I think my favorite thing about this movie is that we have such wonderful directors who care about the fans so much, so they've made sure that if you're interested in Mario lore, you can pause this movie at any moment and you will find some kind of Easter egg. 

It's—they themselves are fans, they understand the mentality, they want to give back in that way. But also the script is good enough that if you know nothing about Mario, you will still have a wonderful time, be entertained, and have a front-row seat to some really exceptional imaginative animation. I would say that it is such a privilege to play Peach. I'm so grateful for your support and I really hope that you enjoy the movie. I—not just saying this—was blown away by it, so I hope you are too."
