F1 The Movie Apple, Brad Pitt - Sonny Hayes - Interview
The statements of Brad Pitt
Yeah, this is one of the most exciting things I've been a part of. Uh, just the world of F1. Uh, and the love and the talent. Uh, and the camaraderie, the families. Uh, and then, and the competition, which is fierce. But, uh, at the root of it, there's a real sportsmanship. And, uh, that was what we really wanted to capture. The, the, the thrill and the danger of this sport.
I think what really spoke to me, uh, was the story of someone starting later in life. And, uh, having a second chance. And I think that speaks to all of us. This idea that you can, you know, find a new gear, a new path. And, uh, and I think also, you know, knowing Lewis Hamilton, I've seen the struggle that he's gone through. And, and the respect. And, uh, and what a phenomenal athlete. And what a wonderful guy. And, uh, so his commitment to this project, and bringing his expertise, and helping us shape the story and the narrative, was really, really meaningful. And essential.
We're just learning. And, uh, we, we were, you know, thrown into the fire. It was really exciting, terrifying, and exhilarating, and, um, and a little painful. But it was really, um, it was a beautiful experience. Um, we're with the F1 community. And to have the support of the teams and the drivers, and really, the the world of F1 has has embraced us. And, uh, they've taught us a lot.
We're trying to capture, uh, the G-forces, and, and, and the speed, and the danger. And, and, the concentration that it requires. You know, the, the focus. Uh, and, and, the sheer physicality of it. It's a sport of inches. And, uh, we're trying to bring that to life.
The cars are incredible. They are, they were retrofitted, uh, with the latest, uh, technology. Uh, we have some cameras that were developed by, uh, people who were working on Top Gun: Maverick. So, some of the fastest cameras on the planet. And, um, so they were really able to capture the speed. And, uh, and, the the excitement of being in the car. But they're quite a handful to drive. It's a lot of concentration. Uh, and, it's very physically demanding. But, uh, we got some great training. And we're up to the task.
I'm racing for Apex. And, uh, we're kind of at the bottom of the grid. So, we're trying to fight our way back up. And, uh, Damson's character, uh, is the young lion. And I'm the, the kind of the old veteran. And, uh, he's the one that has to carry the team. And, uh, and so that's the nature of the relationship. And, uh, it's a real brotherly love, uh, but also a fierce competition between the two of them.
I think what will surprise people. Uh, I think they'll be surprised at how much it's really us. And, uh, and and how much, uh, the teams and the drivers and the world of F1 have really embraced us. And have opened their doors to us. To really tell an authentic story.
