Interview with actress Ilenia Pastorelli
Ilenia Pastorelli to star in the new TV Series Adorazione
Actress Ilenia Pastorelli took part in the Filming Italy Los Angeles 2024. We met her at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
You burst out onto the scene, not even ten years ago, in the film 'They Call Me Jeeg'. Your latest project coming up is a Television series, Adorazione. How do you prepare for a series, versus one feature film, where you play the same character over many episodes?
It is very different, because in a film, for a character, the period is very intensive, over two months, or three months. In a series, it is for six months, or seven months, and so it is more difficult because, say one week, you’re at home, for example, or on holiday, and then we work. So, you may say, no, I l don’t mind playing a schizophrenic woman. But, I am a very lucky girl. I have been fortunate to have done very different roles, in comedy, drama, or even a movie with Dario Argento.
That’s a very wide range. And in your last film, which you did with the legendary Dario Argento (Dark Glasses), you played a blind woman. How did you approach portraying a blind character?
It was very difficult. The character was a woman, blind, and a prostitute. So, it was a little bit difficult.
This year, the festival teams up again with WIF (Women in Film). Moving forward, as a woman who works in film, what would you like to see more of for women in cinema?
To work in cinema as a woman is very difficult, because there is a gender gap, which is very big. I think it is on every side of the work, and it effects the money. It is very different, I think also here (United States), and everywhere. This is very strange, because now we are in 2024, but, through history, for Sofia Loren, or Marilyn Monroe, the situation was different. We created divas, because they were writing more roles for men.© All rights reserved
