Interview with singer Jesse Lynn Madera, 'Come Visit Soon' is new album

"Holy Water" presents images related to the earth. Why?
I was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. When I talk about the puddles of southern rain, I’m thinking back to walking with my grandma, past our family garden, after a summer rain. Back then the street I’m thinking of was gravel that turned into cement right past where our family’s homes ended. The cement was uneven and had some pot holes. The water would collect in the uneven parts of the street, and I loved that. I love puddles, and still jump in them when I can. When we moved from West Virginia, I was very young, and I’ve lived in cities ever since. Any chance I get to marvel at nature, I do. Especially water or greenery. Right now, the leaves are changing in Nashville. It reminds me of Parkersburg, and that’s why I feel I’m home for now.
