Restaurants on the Edge, interview with chef Nick Liberato
Restaurants on the Edge is in streaming on Netflix.
What is your relationship with Italy? Have you visited in the past?
I have a very close relationship with Italy since my family is from Italy and Sicily. I was raised a proud Italian in Philadelphia and cooking was in my blood. My father’s side was from Naples and Sicily while my mother’s side was from Calabria. I’ve taken many trips to Italy throughout my life but one of the best trips was in 2012 when I moved there for 4 months and traveled through each region focusing on all the amazing food and culture that came from each. It’s an amazing thing to get back to your roots, know where you are from and feel the heartbeat of an amazing country like Italy. I’m truly beside myself for how Italy was impacted during this Corona Pandemic. My heart and prayers go out to everyone in Italy.
