Short Open House 1-4, interview with actress Tanya Christiansen and director Brad Holloway
What is an Open House and why is it successful?
Brad Holloway. An 'open house' is a cultural milestone that developed within the North American real estate industry. Basically, each weekend realtors post open house signs in front of their listings and then the general public is invited to come inside and tour the home, usually from 1-4 pm. So there will be attendees who are seriously interested in buying the property, neighbors who are just curious, and older folks who make a hobby of attending open houses, etc. In a few instances, these open houses have also been targeted by criminals, thus the basis for the short. Within the context of the film, the open house serves as a microcosm for the societal issues that have divided America, including the incredible wealth disparity, racial prejudice, and the prevalence of concealed weapons.
