The statements of Andrew Bernstein
I'm thrilled to be bringing it back, and also even more thrilled to be bringing it back in the movie format. You know, this is sort of a, a the same Jack Ryan but a new Jack Ryan. We're sort of trying to introduce this to a whole new audience, put it in the, the feature film category, and uh, and kick it off from there. So, those who love the series will love this, the movie, and those who haven't seen the series, I think will love the movie as well. And that was always the plan.
Yeah, I'm just trying to sort of reinvent the, the franchise a little bit so it feels fresh and new. And that um, you know, obviously it's a lot of the same cast, but sort of we're bringing Sienna Miller into this so that's a whole new flavor that's amazing and she's incredible. So, we want to make it feel new so we don't want to take too much from the series. So, that was sort of the, uh, the real challenge for us.
All in an hour and 40 minutes, exactly right. Where in the series we had, you know, eight episodes wherever to do that in. So, you just got to think about the storytelling and that we can get it all in in that shorter time. So, that was a challenge, and it was great. I mean, that's why we made the movie, because we had a great story to tell.
Just how much fun it was. I mean, we had fun making the series, but it's a real family and, you know, they'd been a family in the series. We took that into the movie, and I just think, you know, it's a hard movie to make, as you said, lot of action, traveled the world to make it. But at the end of the day, it was super fun to make, and and not that I didn't think it would be fun, but it was a challenge, and we had fun making it. So, that's, that was the best.
The statements of Betty Gabriel
Elizabeth Wright, she is the director of the CIA in this piece, and she is very good at her job.
All the boys and Sienna get to do the physical stuff, I just like walk around looking good.
I really loved filming at the CIA building on campus. I now see and have so much more appreciation for the people who do uh do that line of work.
The statements of John Krasinski
This is a family and we're so lucky to be doing this period, but to do it with people that you love and have so much fun with, and I think it really shows in the work. I think writing the script was so easy because I knew each of these people, you know, like they were at my kitchen table, because most of them were at my kitchen table. So, uh, no, it's been a unbelievable and we just love getting to do it. I loved getting to move to the movie format. We love doing the TV show and long format, but I think because you know the characters so well, we can do a movie and you just you know these characters so well that you have to put them in danger.
Oh man, I don't know if any of it's easy. A lot of it's fun. Uh, directing I think and writing is is uh is definitely more stress. There's a lot more going on. You got to answer a lot more questions. Um, but I I find it so incredibly rewarding to create a world and and uh to work again, to create a a an atmosphere where all these people can get together.
The statements of Max Beesley
I'm the enemy. I, uh, I play Liam Crown, uh, head of a, uh, Black Ops unit, mercenaries, very, very dangerous, very nasty guy. A lot of fun to play. It was great.
I loved all of it. I, I loved all the weapons training, the driving training. Uh, I got to do a really nice scene with, uh, one in particular that I love was with Wendell Pierce, who I admire immensely. And we got like a nice four or five minutes together in Trafalgar Square. We had Trafalgar Square locked off. First time for years that they locked most of London down for a weekend. But when you're working with, uh, Wendell, he's a jazz musician, I'm a jazz musician, so you're swinging, man, and we were, it was beautiful. And we both, we, we were both very, very delighted at the end of the day.
The statements of Michael Kelly
And I feel so fortunate, you know, like we have the best time making this, you know, the those relationships that come across on screen are from our real-life experiences. If you look at my character from season two to present, he completely changed and that's really been based a lot on our personal relationships, you know, and and John sort of wrote and and helped guide that character in that way. So, he's pretty Yeah, you look at, I'm so buttoned-up in season two and then by the now I'm not so buttoned-up anymore.
I understand everything he does. I understand all of his decisions, and I I love the guy. Like, he's so much fun to play because I love him so much. Like, it's just you want to be in his shoes.
The statements of Andrew Bernstein, Betty Gabriel, John Krasinski, Max Beesley, Michael Kelly and Sienna Miller
They're so lovely, the people involved. John and I were great friends because I'm best friends with his wife. So I didn't actually feel too much pressure, but it's exciting to be part of something that people are actually really fans of and um yeah and I loved it.
I was nervous about the bromance that I knew would have existed and trying to infiltrate that, but that lasted six seconds because they're the funniest, most ridiculous people in the world, and I love them all. They're really cute and I think they were so ready for a girl to come in and and kind of break up just the boy vibe. So I was very welcomed.
I was nervous about, I've never really done anything like it. But there's so much training that goes into it, so I now know how to reload massive weapons and fight and like it's actually it was really great.
