Tv series Hunters: interview with actor Zack Schor
Hunters is in streaming on Amazon Prime Video
The plot is very strong. Do you think the portrayal of Nazism in TV/film is a sensitive subject?
I think it’s an incredibly sensitive subject. Of course we want to be sensitive to the victims of the Holocaust and as respectful in our portrayal as possible. But there’s also the question of how far you go when you show the nature of the atrocities committed by Nazi soldiers and officers. I think we’ve learned when it comes to literature that censorship doesn’t serve us; words have power and there’s greater value in exposing people to them and having a conversation about what they say and mean. I think the same is true on screen. If we censor, or soften, the nature of their crimes then we begin to forget, and it is so important that we remember.
