Wonder Women is a series of documentaries. Why did you choose this topic?

The project actually chose me. My cousin was visiting my brother and it was in the middle of the #MeToo movement. She was telling him about the untold stories of the fisherwomen in Alaska and the challenges they face each and every day. My brother also knew I was coming out of a difficult working environment myself and we decided to tell the stories of women in underrepresented industries from all over the world. It kind of happened by accident. Therefore, we set out our sights to explore and highlight everyday heroes – Wonder Women – who continue to embrace all the obstacles and challenges that are thrown their way and follow their hearts, dreams, and passions. This topic, to our surprise, is much more relevant than we anticipated. The fact that women are still not embraced in all career fields, still make much less money than their male counterparts and have so much more to prove was astounding to us. This fact alone inspired us to share these stories of women, who themselves see no greater merit or heroism behind their work. For them, this is just another day at work. But for us, it is so much more. So, while my brother helped me find these women and helped me produce this series, it has become a true passion project as I myself have faced countless obstacles during my film career. To share these stories is so much more than just to fill a void in the TV lineup. It’s a true passion project to show the world that women can do it all!
