Beast, the movie plot

Beast is the upcoming drama and action movie. The plot centers on a former MMA fighter, Patton (Daniel MacPherson), now unemployed. He suffers a personal tragedy involving his brother. With the help of a veteran coach, Sammy (Russell Crowe), he decides to avenge his brother by coming out of retirement to compete in One Championship.

“Here I am, at the top of the mountain,” Sammy says to Patton, showing up at his house. “In this entire building, there are only two people who know you’re going to win this fight tonight. There’s you, and there’s me,” Sammy urges him.

During the fight he is overwhelmed by his opponent, but then he reacts and strikes back.

Beast, the movie cast

Russell Crowe has appeared in Kraven the Hunter, The Pope’s Exorcist, Unhinged, and Nuremberg. Daniel MacPherson has worked in Land of Bad and in episodes of Foundation in the role of Hugo: in Strike Back he plays Sergeant Samuel Wyatt.

The cast also includes Luke Hemsworth, seen recently in the TV series Westworld and Land of Bad, where Crowe also appears; Bren Foster, cast member of the series Home and Away and Last King of the Cross.

The movie is directed by Tyler Atkins, who recently directed Bosch & Rockit; the screenplay is by David Frigerio, who wrote Crypto and The Signal.

Beast, the shooting and the movie release date

The production is by Broken Open Pictures, Storm Alley Entertainment and Armagh Films. One Championship — a Singaporean organization of mixed martial arts, kickboxing, Muay Thai and submission grappling — collaborated on the movie, and filming took place in Bangkok at the Impact Arena, where One Championship’s live Friday Fights event of January 24, 2025 provided the setting for a key scene. The movie opens in US theaters on April 10, 2026.
