Cape Fear Apple TV Series: Amy Adams and Javier Bardem in Scorsese-Spielberg Thriller
Cape Fear debuts June 5 on Apple TV+: cast, release date, and Scorsese-Spielberg production
The psychological horror thriller arrives on Apple TV+
Cape Fear is the psychological horror thriller created and executive produced by Nick Antosca, with executive production by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The series, which features Amy Adams and Javier Bardem as stars and executive producers, will make its debut on Apple TV+ on June 5 with the first two episodes of ten total, followed by new episodes every Friday until July 31.
From Scorsese's 1991 remake to the series
Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm descends upon happily married lawyers Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious murderer they themselves helped convict and imprison, is released from prison and is thirsty for revenge. The ensemble cast is completed by Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Patrick Wilson, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles and CCH Pounder.
Production and creative team
Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and by Amblin Television, Cape Fear is based on both the novel "The Executioners", which inspired the 1962 film of the same name produced by Universal Pictures and starring Gregory Peck, and on the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, already producer of the 1991 film, together with Scorsese. Creator Nick Antosca is showrunner and producer together with Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce together with Spielberg for Amblin Television. Oscar® nominee Morten Tyldum directs the pilot episode and is also executive producer. Cape Fear is developed and produced within Antosca's overall deal with UCP, where he has worked steadily since 2017.
