Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, the movie's plot
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass is the comedy movie coming out. The plot tells of Gail Daughtry (Zoey Deutch), a hairdresser from Wilbur, Kansas, who is about to marry her ex-boyfriend, a high school football star (Michael Cassidy).
The two are devoted to each other, but like many couples, they have an agreement that grants them a celebrity sex pass: if the occasion ever arose, each of them would have permission to sleep with one famous person of their choice.
When Gail discovers that her fiancé has used his pass, she finds herself spending a weekend in Los Angeles searching for her favorite actor, Jon Hamm.

"Gail, I was about to text you. This was my only free pass, remember" says Tom in the released trailer, while Gail discovers him in bed with another woman. Gail then tries to use her pass, and tries to meet Jon Hamm. "You're just a girl from Kansas trying to do I don't know what," says Ludovica (Sabrina Impacciatore); "have sex with Jon Hamm" she replies. "Hey, I'm Jon. What's up" Hamm adds.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, the movie's cast
Zoey Deutch recently acted in Juror #2 and Something from Tiffany's, and will be in The Threesome. Jon Hamm is the protagonist of the TV series Mad Men, and performer in Your Friends and Neighbors and The Morning Show.
The other actors are Ken Marino, already seen in Wet Hot American Summer, Wanderlust and in episodes of The Residence; Sabrina Impacciatore, who acted in episodes of The White Lotus and will be in the new movie In the Hand of Dante with Jason Momoa and Al Pacino.
The direction is by David Wain, who already directed the Wet Hot American Summer movie series and episodes of Mr. Throwback: the screenplay is his and David Wain's and Ken Marino's.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, the critics' reviews and the movie's release date
The movie was premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it received positive reviews. For Variety "it's a cheeky mishmash that wants to do nothing but make you laugh, and it succeeds. Yet, in its own way, there's a bit of vision."
For Screen International "Wain and Marino have a tendency to milk jokes, which proves a shame given that the first time wasn't exactly funny. Contributing to all this is a ramshackle narrative that, despite its Wizard of Oz mold, appears structurally weak."
For The Hollywood Reporter "at once goofy and bold, the movie may not live up to every joke, but it manages to satisfy in visceral and enjoyable ways like a more sophisticated comedy couldn't do." The movie comes out in the United States on July 10, 2026.
