Sci-Fi Movie Rose of Nevada: Time Travel with George MacKay, Callum Turner and Rosalind Eleazar Plot
George MacKay, Callum Turner in Sci-Fi Movie Rose of Nevada
Rose of Nevada is the horror and drama movie coming out. The plot is set in a small coastal village in Cornwall, where Rose of Nevada - a fishing boat that disappeared thirty years earlier with all its crew - mysteriously reappears in the harbor.
A local businessman decides that the boat must go back to sea: he recruits an experienced old captain (Francis Magee) and two young men: Nick (George MacKay), a family man struggling to support his family on food subsidies, and Liam (Callum Turner), a drifter. The three set sail and the voyage is a success, but when they return to shore, something has radically changed. The town is more alive, the pub is full, and the coins in circulation are those from thirty years before. Liam is mistaken for Alan, the father of a single woman's daughter, while Nick is welcomed by the Richards family—who now appear younger—as if he were their dead son, Luke. Nick discovers from a local newspaper that the year is 1993, three years before his birth.
"Welcome home, boy. Good voyage" says a resident to Nick - in the released trailer - after he has returned. But he doesn't recognize the people. "She thinks you're someone else" says Liam. "Let's go out again, and when we come back, everything will be back to normal" Nick concludes.

Release and Reviews
Rose of Nevada was presented in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival 2025, before being presented in Toronto, New York Film Festival and BFI London. For The Times "MacKay and Turner stand out with their silent gazes, tormented expressions and grimaces. Like all Jenkins movies, the look is extraordinary and the deliberately metallic sound of post-production only accentuates the feeling of witnessing something ancient, significant and somewhat magical".
For Screendaily "the movie effectively combines genre clichés with Jenkins' unique visual style and a touching message of community".
For The Playlist "the narrative becomes a bit troubled, as the abstractions of his technique clash with the demands of storytelling, which must balance the various elements of the story (not to mention the ensemble cast)". The movie is released in the United States on June 19, 2026.
