The End of Oak Street, the Movie’s Plot

The End of Oak Street is the thriller movie coming out. The plot unfolds after a mysterious cosmic event that catapults the entire Oak Street neighborhood from the suburbs to an unknown location. The Platt family soon realizes that their survival depends on their ability to stay together, as they attempt to navigate an environment now unrecognizable. The family consists of mother Denise (Anne Hathaway), father Greg (Ewan McGregor), and children Audrey (Maisy Stella) and Brian (Christian Convery).

“Mom, what’s happening to us?” asks Brian in the released trailer. “I think our house, our neighborhood, our street, have moved” responds Denise, while images of their happy past alternate. “Oh my God, run” shouts Greg, urging the children to flee, as a dinosaur chases them.

Anne Hathaway recently acted in Armageddon Time and in Eileen, and in The Idea of You with Nicholas Galitzine. Ewan McGregor was the lead in Doctor Sleep and Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, and in episodes of A Gentleman in Moscow. The cast also includes P.J. Byrne, already seen in the TV series The Boys; Maisy Stella, star of episodes of Nashville.

The direction is by David Robert Mitchell, who already directed Under the Silver Lake and It Follows.

The End of Oak Street, the Movie’s Filming and Release Date

The production is by Columbia Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and Bad Robot by JJ Abrams. Filming began on March 22, 2024 in London and Atlanta, and concluded on June 4. During filming in Atlanta, Hathaway was photographed with a blood-stained shirt while brandishing a poker. The dramatic sequence seemed to be the continuation of a scene that had been shot previously in April: she moved on a roof with three teenage actors, including Maisy Stella. In another scene, she is still on the roof next to a teenager, who wields a baseball bat. In other images, she confronts McGregor.

The budget is around 85 million dollars, and the movie - previously titled Flowervale Street - is released in the United States on August 14, 2026.
