Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the Movie's Plot

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is the comedy and horror movie coming out. The plot focuses on a queer director, Kris (Hannah Einbinder) hired to direct a new chapter of a slasher franchise at its umpteenth sequel, known as Camp Miasma. The director wants the actress who played the final girl in the original movie, Billy (Gillian Anderson), the sole survivor. When the two women begin working together, they sink into a frenzy of psychosexual mania, so much so that the director falls in love with her, crossing into fear and delirium.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Critics' Reviews and the Movie's Release Date

The movie was presented at the 2026 Cannes festival, where it received positive reviews and a standing ovation. For TheWrap

"what happens to these spaces when we feel comfortable in our bodies again? Must resurrection always require a sort of death first? Is there a moment in our lives when it's too late to transform? The fact that the movie manages to give space to these ideas, while at the same time seasoning them with that touch of trash typical of the genre that makes them appetizing and stimulating, is in itself a miraculous feat".

For The Hollywood Reporter "it's intoxicating and strange stuff, perhaps not as emotionally engaging as TV Glow, but captivating both in its confusion and in its honesty".

For The Playlist "it's a movie that is deeply personal, while addressing the omnipresent conflict between duty and desire, and it does so through the clash between guts and bones, searching for what is buried deep within being: a pulsating vein of desire".

The movie is released in US theaters on August 7, 2026.
