28-02-2024

Nico Birnbaum, a German actor who recently starred in the popular TV series Babylon Berlin, will now star in the TV series We Were the Lucky Ones, created by Thomas Kail and starring Logan Lerman and Joey King.

Can you tell us about your experience in movie Furioso?

Oh, it's great experience in Furioso. It's a film about a circus, about a dying circus. I play a trapeze artist who's very... He wants to climb the ladder of success, but he lacks talent. But his wife is very talented, but she is not willing to do what it takes. And so there's a lot of fighting. And then the circus is on the last day. And I think he knows he's going to kill himself or whatever, because he's dying with the circus, I guess.

He worked on Babylon Berlin, a very successful TV series.

And in Babylon Berlin, of course, it's like one of the biggest German productions, I felt like I was on a Hollywood film set. And the people were incredibly nice. Yeah, I always loved being in that TV series. I love historical dramas and series. So it was perfect for me.

What projects are you currently working on?

It's not sure yet, but the next project might be a dark comedy about a Jewish German director who has to escape from Nazi Germany and is on his way to Hollywood. And he's sure he'll end up in Hollywood. He has to make porn films for the British soldiers to encourage them to fight. And that would be a major part of it. And I'd like to do that, but it's not sure yet. We'll see. But on the 28th of March you will see me on Hulu TV in “We were the lucky ones”. It’s another historical miniseries by Thomas Kail with Logan Lerman, Joey King and myself. And yeah, that was also maybe one of the best experiences of my life, working on that set was Thomas Kail and Logan Lerman for sure.

Nico Birnbaum worked on the Italian film I racconti della domenica, Operation Mincemeat with Colin Firth, Nihat - Alles auf Anfang, Win It All and the TV movie Auris - Die Frequenz des Todes.
