'M. Night Shyamalan is a very calm presence on the set': interview with actor Steven Dennis
Steven Dennis worked on Star Trek and Split.
He has also worked on television series such as "Star Trek: Voyager" as Crewman Thompson. How was the experience?
Really terrific. Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway ) was uncommonly generous, and the directors showed admirable patience. My character is introduced while having what appears to be a psychotic breakdown, which was a uniquely welcome acting challenge. I got to work with the gifted John Savage (The Deer Hunter, The Thin Red Line), whose film performances were a strong influence on me as a young man. Thompson appeared in a story which spanned the episode finale of season 5, plus the first episode of season 6, which was fun. I did almost lose my voice doing numerous takes of the psychotic breakdown scene, because we had to get some flashlight lens flares “just right” for the camera!
