How did you approach the profession of sommelier?
I was actually working in the world of politics in Washington DC, which I very much hated, and randomly found my way into the wine retail world through a political client of mine. Now 16 years later, I have traveled and worked all over the world and had so many incredible experiences from making wine, importing, being a professor and being a sommelier. I was actually named Sommelier of the Year by Food + Wine Magazine in 2018, which continues to open up so many opportunities to further my passion for wine.
