Andrea Vasiliou worked as actress and stunt for tv series Krypton and movie Wonder Woman. The new movie is movie Ulysses Coyote.

Q. In movie “Wonder Woman”, you play the Amazon Warrior. How did you prepare for action scenes?

A. I trained for 6 months in sword and shield, spear fighting and archery. We also had to gain muscle and shred fat before filming so this meant sticking to a high protein, clean diet and training one and a half hours in the gym a day. We had the best trainers, from
Gym Jones who trained the spartons in the movie 300 and take care of lots of actors body transformations. Recovery days were gentle cardio for one hour; on the rower, airfit and ski erg as well as 50 Turkish getups followed by ice baths and hot/cold showers for muscle repair. Not for the faint hearted but I loved the morale we had together and the energy boosts we had to dig deep for, when the going got tough- and it did!

Q. In recent movies, many of the main characters are strong women, such as "Wonder Woman”, "The Beauty  and the Beast”, "Joy." In general, what is your favorite female character, movie theater or literature or theater?

A. My favourite female character is Lara Croft, I aspired to do action sequences like her when I was young and enjoyed how physical she was with her training and stunts. She's a daring, fearless strong woman which I love.

Q. You've also worked in tv series, "Cormoran Strike", from the novels by J. K. Rowling. Do you prefer to work on TV or cinema?

A. I adore both to be honest TV is more fast paced and varied but the sets on big budget Films are incredible and never cease to blow me away. The great thing about working in film and TV is the camaraderie you build with the cast and crew as you often spend months of shooting together.

Q. For your work in movies, how do you prepare?

A. I have always been into running, weight training and boxing. That's where my passion for action in film started. Once I got the role as an Amazon in Wonder Woman, it was into training everyday for at least 4 hours. We trained in stunts, tumbles, how to 'die', sword and shield combinations as well as archery training, strength training and spear fighting. This was in intense masterclass in weaponry which helped me gain the discipline and endurance I needed to be able to deliver fight scenes after many takes on set.

Q. What is your preferred book and why?

A. My favourite book is the life of Pi, never gets old and the story is so intricate and beautiful. I love the exploration of spirituality and the magical world created .

Q. And your prefered comic, what is it?

A. My preferred comic would have to be a Wonder Woman, slightly biased but love the history of Wonder Woman and the story of the Amazons from Greek Mythology.

Q. What advice do you give to a young girl who wants to take on an actress career?

A. I would say take lots of classes and enjoy playing around with your imagination. Play acting games and create stories with friends and family, this will help spark your imagination and visualise scenes which will in turn get you more excited about acting. Perform in front of family friends and get confident and enjoy it.
