Interview with actor Dafhyd Flynn
From tv series Vikings to Gateway

Dafhyd Flynn has worked on various projects, such as the films Lakelands, Gateway, and the TV series Vikings.
You starred in Lakelands, a film about a soccer player who is attacked during a night out. The film was well-received by critics. Why do you think that is?
You also starred in the horror film Gateway. Do you like the horror genre?
Gateway was filmed by my good friend Niall Owens and I really loved it, and I do love a good horror but it has to be intriguing and not just blood and gore thrown into it, I love the suspense of a really good horror. I wouldn’t say I have many fears, I can get a bit claustrophobic but nothing really scares me.
You also starred in the TV series Vikings as Adam. Can you share any anecdotes with us?
You also work on various short films. Do you think it's an effective way for a team of actors and directors to promote their work?
I think short films is my favourite thing to do or be in, it’s such a rush for them 3-4 days and you’re packing in so much information and emotion into a 10-15 minute segment, it’s so impressive to me. They’re great for young directors and aspiring filmmakers, I think in Ireland we have a lot of creative talent, out of the few times I’ve Been to the Galway Film Fleadh I’ve sat in for short film programmes, I love it.
What is the state of cinema in Ireland?
I think I remember seeing before that out of all countries in Europe that Ireland has the most Cinema attendances annually So I think that speaks for itself that the Irish love a good film.
Could you tell us about your upcoming projects?
I’ve done a few projects so Far this year including my own first script and short film titled ‘I’m Alright’ which went so amazingly, that’s in the editing process now I can’t wait to see it, hopefully with a bit of luck I land a few more roles before the new year but we’ll see what happens.
