Interview with actress Arianna Veronesi: 'Reconnecting with your inspiration'
Arianna Veronesi is an actress and director
What is the biggest difference between proposing a project in Italy and proposing a project in the US?
I can’t properly answer this question because I have never proposed a project in Italy. I can only say that I was pleasantly surprised in the United States on how well my projects were received. First with the theater solo show My Janis, that I wrote and starred in as Janis Joplin, which won multiple awards and was acclaimed by the critics and audiences. Then the journey of the short film Glaistig, winner of fifteen awards, has been gratifying from start to finish. This film was staffed very intentionally with talented women in the head departments, who came together inspired by its compelling message. It has been such a joy to collaborate with so many brilliant artists, in particular with the director Abbey Spacil and the cinematographer Kathy Williams, who together did an outstanding job. The entire process re-flected why we are in this business in the first place. It was the ultimate expression of freedom and creativity. This picture granted me the permission as a storyteller to share and honor my most truthful and vulnerable message and, in my opinion, there is nothing more empowering than that.
