The Sheep Detectives, Nicholas Galitzine Interview
The statements of Nicholas Galitzine
I came to the film by means of really reading the script and and enjoying it and it was, you know, completely unlike anything I've done before and I like the fact that there is there is a wholesomeness to the project but also there's an immense amount of humor and, um, you know, at that point I knew that uh both Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson were were part of the cast and, um, uh, it would just um it just was a very exciting prospect and and knowing Kyle our director's previous work, um, in animation especially, um, I was a very exciting opportunity for me.
This movie is essentially about a a flock of sheep who um help solve a murder mystery. Uh now I don't play one of the sheep, uh and don't interact with the sheep very much, but I'm one of the sort of people um in the townsfolk a journalist who is on top of the case and encourages the local police detective Tim Derry to solve the case.
It was just fun working with such a comedic talent like Nick Braun, um, because you know I'm I'm still very new to comedy actually all things considered and I think getting to learn from him and getting to sort of throw ideas back and forth uh was just really fun. He's just great, I mean he's so funny, um, he's so um committed to the job and passionate and um and I think you know we really feel like together we can kind of push the bit as far as we possibly can to to see if something's funny and you know as I kind of learned on um this other movie I did Bottoms, you know it's all about trying to sort of try ideas out and sometimes they don't work and that's fine and um uh you know I definitely feel like I've got a great partner in him um to be able to sort of be the litmus test I guess to to my sense of humor as well and see see what transfers to screen.
The cast as a whole I mean just some incredibly talented people and um you know I I can confirm that Emma Thompson is possibly the nicest person I've ever met and um was just such a a joy and such a sort of beacon of light I think every day. And um you know for me personally one of my my heroes in this industry is is Hugh Jackman and um you know someone whose career I I would love to emulate in terms of you know his amazing uh work in action movies but also his um he has this just incredible sense of emotionality in him. Um and obviously humor and and loves to to do musical theater as well and he's just a brilliant lovely uh human being gave me a lot of advice so um I was just really uh just so proud to be a part of this production.
I hope audiences just have a laugh, um maybe a little bit of a cry and and just feel um a sense of warmth at the end of the movie because I think that we all put a lot of love into this project and um you know for us now having basically completed the the live-action portion of the movie I can't wait to watch the film and see all of the the wonderful sheep and animals uh come to life.
