Without giving anything away, episode two, there's a scene, “the sesh”. How much fun was it to film that scene? I had one of those with my wife yesterday. Yours looked way more fun.

Naomi: Oh, that was so fun because certainly we had what was scripted and then also just got to add in the various things that we also were like, I'm going to just add in this and see if anyone else agrees.

Jessie: Yeah, we had a really great time. And it's always fun whenever we get to have a big group together because our cast gets along so well and there's so many incredibly talented people in our cast. So, getting to bounce off of each other and do some improvised moments is always a joy.

What has been different about filming this season?

Naomi: I think for me, you know, season four, so season one, Carol, I sort of did that part in reshoots. So, most of the show had been done and then we just sort of did Carol scenes. So, I definitely felt like I was visiting. And then season two, I was in a little bit more, but then we were, were we kind of shooting also, was that the start of the pandemic? Right. So, then we're kind of in that and it's like, what? And then season three, I was like, okay, comfy, we're feeling it. And then it was this season where I felt the most comfortable from the beginning. Right. Like I was able to just kind of walk in and be like, I am a part of it, and we are doing this and this is fun. And so, I hope that that is visible on screen, you know, that increased comfort and casualness.

Jessie: I do think season four, there's a shared understanding that we have ownership over our characters now and people have really dialed in, and we know who we're playing. And beyond that, we just know each other so well. So off camera, there's a real like, what's the word? Camaraderie. We know how to talk to each other and the conversations might be shorter now because we're all just already on the same page.

You’re working with Rob McElhenney and Megan Ganz, who have worked on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, one of the longer running comedy shows. Is there anything you take away from the experience of working with them?

Naomi: I feel like something I liked and what I learned from the jump, again, as someone who came in once the show was up and running, and also was very familiar with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, is I like that there is room to improvise and keep it playful, right? Because not only have they been doing it a long time, but a lot of people have been doing it a long time together. And that includes the crew, right? So, a lot of the crew from Sunny is also on Mythic Quest. So, everyone has this comfort and shorthand, which then means an actor like me, who's new to the crew, can kind of get in the sandbox and play with people. You know what I mean? And that's something that is not always the case. You know, some people, if you've worked a long time, there's a routine and you don't deviate. And then other times, it's like we're all comfy, so do a fun run. Let's just kind of blow this one out, you know? And that's always a good time.

Jessie: There's a real confidence when you get to work with people who've worked together for more than a decade now, almost two decades. And there's a confidence when they call wrap, when they say, “we've got it, we're moving on”. They know exactly what they want to put on the television show. So, we're not shooting a lot of options. We usually, once Rob (McElhenney) sees a take that he thinks is worth printing, we move on right away.
