Welcome To Rockville, Interview with band Everclear: 'Lifting Us Up'
Celebrating 30 years in the music
industry, isn’t slowing down, and that’s a sentiment echoed by many
fans: “They truly lift me up!” With three decades of electrifying riffs, raw
storytelling, and unapologetic passion, it’s easy to see why the band remains a
powerful force.
At Welcome To Rockville, I had the chance to sit down with Art Alexakis and bassist Freddy Herrera for a real, heartfelt conversation about how their music resonates with people, especially those who feel like they’re falling down. Their songs aren’t just lyrics and chords, they’re lifelines, picking listeners back up through melody and meaning. During the interview they instantly noticed my New York accent during our conversation. While snapping a social photo, Art joked, 'Adrienne, say coffee.' Naturally, I couldn’t resist delivering a proud 'caw-fee.' Classic New York moment, gotta love it!"
Art Alexakis embodies the kind of
passion and perseverance that never fades. A true down-to-earth soul, he
remains steadfast in his artistry, proving that staying true to yourself is
timeless.
One message stood out from our chat about his journey with multiple sclerosis (MS): Keep pushing forward and live in the moment. His openness has added a powerful new layer to Everclear’s story. Their journey isn’t just about rocking out, it’s about resilience, giving back, and paying it forward. Fans don’t just listen to their music; they find strength in it, both through the sound and the message behind it.
"What I love is that Art takes the stigma off the stage," said bassist Freddy Herrera.
As Everclear reaches this milestone,
they’re not just riding on nostalgia. They continue to evolve, experiment, and
push boundaries, proving that they still have more to say and more lives to
impact. If you’ve ever been lifted by a lyric, saved by a chord, or empowered
by the vulnerability in a verse, you’re part of this story.
After the interview, I made my way
to the Octane Stage, where Everclear’s relentless energy and authenticity came
to life. The music industry has evolved over the years, but Everclear has
rolled right with it, never compromising who they are.
Everclear’s ’90s hits, 'Santa
Monica,' 'Father of Mine,' and 'I Will Buy You a New Life,' still
pack the same gritty, infectious energy and raw emotion as when they first hit
the airwaves. While music trends have shifted over the decades, Everclear has
never wavered in their authenticity.
