'Woody Allen is pretty amazing on the set': Interview with actor Stephen Kunken
Stephen Kunken worked in Café Society, by Woody Allen.

On the set, who is the working relationship with the director, Woody Allen?
Woody is pretty amazing on set. You have everyone working feverishly to deliver their best work and the result is pretty staggering. Every department delivers at such a high level that you are compelled as an actor to focus and do the same. There are no histrionics and out of control moments and I found the set to be incredibly pleasant and relaxed. Woody is somewhat hands-off at first...he lets actors explore...and then...his attention to the musicality of a scene comes quickly to the fore. Like a great musician, Woody can diagnosis where moments are being missed or obscured by his relationship to the musicality of his words and innate rhythms. So when Woody would give notes, they would often appear technical at first and upon deeper investigation yield great character insight.
