Hoppers, Dave Franco Interview

"Yeah, so Titus is a... he's an insecure, maniacal, sadistic little butterfly. And he fits into the story because as everyone else is trying to kind of find harmony within the animal kingdom, he's trying to blow it all up. He wants to burn it all down. If you're... if you are in his way, he will get you out of his way. He only cares about himself. He's just... he's chaos. He's pure chaos.

I mean, it's Pixar. It's like everything they do is top shelf. It's like the best in the business. And so when they first asked me to be a part of this, I said 'I don't need to know who the character is, I don't need to know... I don't need to know what the story is, I am in no matter what.' And then I showed up and it's just this beautifully written script. They gave me this really fun character where I get to be totally unhinged and manic. And when you play a character that's this big, it's very freeing. You get to come into the recording booth and just go absolutely nuts. There's no parameters. And like I would tell the director 'Please reel me in if I'm going too far', and more often than not he was like 'Go further, just go crazier.' And so it was so much fun.

I ran into... I was at an art show the other day and I ran into this girl who knew Daniel from college and she goes 'Daniel is like so pure-hearted and just genuinely kind.' And I was like 'I totally agree' and also you feel that in the movie. It's like you feel Daniel's essence when you're watching this film. It's so sweet and like you're watching this animated beaver and you're crying, you're like 'Why am I crying?' But it's... it's all Daniel. You gotta go see this film because it's taking huge swings. It's weird, it's fun, it's genuinely funny, it's heart-wrenching. It's got a little bit of everything. It's like... that's the perfect combination for like the ideal Pixar movie. And again, our director Daniel just nailed it. Uh, but it really is one of those movies where you're sitting back and you're like 'I don't even know where this is going... like, where's... where's... where's this journey taking me?' And like my favorite movies these days are ones that you just sit back and you're like 'Oh my God, I'm just on this ride. I know I'm in good hands, I don't know where it's going but I know it's going to be good'."
