In the TV series Everywhere I Go you play Demir. Can you tell us something about your character?

The bad memories and wounds he experienced with his family in his childhood led Demir to perceive the feeling of love as a weakness. For this reason, Demir has become someone who makes rational decisions and acts with logic. This makes him very disciplined, focused and workaholic.

What are the similarities and differences between Demir and your character?

I do have fun when I do my job, I don’t think he does. In relationships, Demir is shy and always down-to-earth. But I like taking risks. And I think, my life is not punctual as his. He is quite sharp on his daily life.

Where did the shooting take place?

The shooting takes place in Istanbul. We use living, real places for our scenes. And I think viewers like it. Istanbul provides us great views and possibilities of various beautiful scenery. I think that is one reason of our success.

Turkish TV series are very successful in Italy and Europe: what do you think is the reason?

In Turkish TV series, the relationships and conflicts between characters are deeply processed in the scripts. This causes the audience to consume emotional content. Instead of things that will embellish the events, such as too much action or sex scenes, we prioritise the situation and the moment more, and make it come alive. And at the end of the day, audience appreciate this and continue watching TV series. Thanks everyone for that.

What is the situation of filmmaking in Turkey?

It’s growing. I read that we became the 3rd biggest TV series exporter and the export sales volume exceeded $1 billion. I would give credit to everyone who has contributed to this success. I believe not only our stories, but also the creativity of our directors, actors, actresses and the others’ are appreciated by foreign audiences. Unfortunately I cannot say that this also is valid for our cinema. But things go great for TV series for now. It’s like we are supplying the content need of the world.

Have you ever been to Italy?

Yes I have. It was in 2023 April. I visited Amalfi Coast and Capri. It was beautiful. I love Italian people, they are so kind and friendly. I felt like home, which is a unique feeling. Particularly Capri has already become one of my favourite spots in Europe.

What is your next project?

I have a cinema movie, coming to the theatres on 26th of April. It’s called CADI (The Witch). It’s about the emotion that has been with us since the beginning of humanity.  The fear, our fears. It is an emotion that we constantly encounter and have to overcome in order to find a better version of ourselves. In the movie, we watch the adventure of Fikriye, who marries to Naşit Nefi, the lord of a mansion, about whom there are strange rumors, and tries to solve this mystery. Frankly, it was very exciting and challenging for me at first. I have had unforgettable scenes throughout my acting career. I hope you guys can watch it.
