The Bold and the Beatutiful, Interview with actress Kimberlin Brown
Kimberlin Brown is one of the stars of the soap opera Beautiful.
Kimberlin Brown is one of the stars of the soap opera Beautiful, playing the cynical Sheila Carter.
Your role as Sheila Carter on Beautiful is the one that gives the soap the most charisma. How were you chosen for this role?
I actually auditioned for the part that originated on The Young and The Restless in 1990 as Sheila Carter. The success of the character on Y&R prompted the creator/executive producer Bill Bell to cross my character over to Beautiful. The first week of airing on Beautiful the rating rose to an all time high giving Bill Bell the number one and two daytime time dramas in the United States and he never looked back….he gave me the freedom to be creative telling me that there was no boundaries as far as Sheila was concerned so push those boundaries when ever possible.
Sheila is calculating and cunning. Is there an aspect of her character that is similar to yours?
There’s only one aspect that we share, the loyalty and love for family. Any thing else and I’d be behind bars!!
What do you think is the reason for the success of this soap opera, which has been running for 37 years?
I believe success comes from creating a space where our audience can escape even if for a brief moment in time. The fact that it's been so powerful after 37 years speaks truth to that. There are few shows that are able to tout that record and I’m blessed to have been a part of this journey.
What is your relationship with the other actors on the set?
It's much like an extended family that I look forward to seeing every time I work. I very close to Jacqueline,Kelly and Sean :-)
Have you ever been to Italy?
I have! I lived in Milan years ago while modeling for the Glamour Agency and have traveled there many times since. I’m heading to Rome for my birthday end of June and then to Sicily from there for a friends birthday.
Can you tell us anything about upcoming projects?
I’m actually working on a couple of projects at the moment. The first is a comedy staring Perrey Reeves (Entourage) and Johnathon Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Wiseguy) The other projects are informational productions, one with famed photographer Lesley Bohm and the other, my fellow costar Sean Kanan.
