Interview with Skandar Amini, from the cast of SOKO Potsdam

We meet Skandar Amini, from the cast of the TV series SOKO Potsdam, which is about to start its seventh season. What do you think makes the SOKO series so successful?

The special mix of contemporary, personal stories and the thriller elements of uncovering crimes is the secret of the ZDF series' success. Soko Potsdam is not just about crime. It is also and above all about the investigators, their lives, their families, relationships, struggles and much more.

This makes the series more accessible for viewers and easy to identify with.

Who is Skandar Amini? Is there a movie or TV role that best represents him and his way of being?

That's a very difficult question. But the more I think about it, ‘Po’ from ‘Kung Fu Panda’ fits. Po is a warm-hearted, funny and sociable guy, you can rely on him 100% - he helps wherever he can.

You were also part of the cast of the TV series Hanna, starring Esme Creed-Miles, can you share a memory of that experience?

Shooting with her was a great experience. We shot my scene in the back of a truck. And I should act as if it was really cold and freezing. So I’m sitting in that truck with a beanie on and acting as if I’m really cold…

The problem was that we shot that scene in the summer in Budapest and it was like 30 degrees outside and even hotter in the truck. So I remember sweating the whole time while acting as if I was freezing – that´s cinema.

Who or what inspires Skandar Amini to play the role?

Unfortunately, I haven't yet found a role in which I can show my dancing skills.

What are Skandar Amini's plans for the near future?

I've shot a nice role in a prime-time crime thriller that will be broadcast in March 2025. And next February I'll be shooting a completely different project, but I'm not allowed to say anything about it yet. For now, I'm looking forward to the seventh season of Soko Potsdam, which will start at the beginning of 2025. It's going to be an exciting year!
