In the novel from which it is based, the third-person narrative switches between several points of view, including village businessmen, Catholic officials. Did you keep this structure?

I did not.  The third person structure works great in a TV series or in a film with an ensemble cast.  Our adaptation is first and foremost the story of Gerry Fenn (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan).  The narrative unfolds almost exclusively from his point of view and the audience discovers things at the same time as he discovers them.  Creating a broader story with a shifting point of view would have diluted the intensity of the narrative drive and lost focus on the hero.
