Tv series 'Johnson', interview with actor Derrex Brady: 'Best friends from my childhood'

I'm really excited about our Season 2 but thinking back to an episode that aired during Season 1, episode six was an episode that our friendship was tested to its limits. Greg Johnson (Deji LaRay) didn't approve of Jarvis Johnson (Derrex Brady) marrying out of his race and is in an interracial marriage. Throughout Season 1, Greg jokingly throws jabs at Jarvis. To keep the peace, Jarvis takes the jabs and laughs them off. However, in episode six, Jarvis felt Greg crossed the line blatantly judging his wife and his marriage. All four guys are playing basketball and Jarvis and Greg get pretty physical during the game and it turns into a fight. The two finally trade words and get into a scuffle. Omar Johnson (Thomas Q. Jones) and Keith Johnson (Phillip Smithey) break the two up, but Jarvis leaves the court stating he's done. It was an episode that shook up the four guys and their friendship may be forever impacted and never the same. It was an amazing episode because we don't usually see men be transparent and vulnerable. And here we got to see both opposing sides to marriage with the judgment of love as well as the defending of love.
