Greenland 2: Migration is the upcoming action movie. It’s the sequel to Greenland, in which John Garrity (Gerard Butler) - an Atlanta structural engineer experiencing marital troubles with his wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) - attempts to save his family from the approaching Clarke, an interstellar comet composed of thousands of fragments set to collide with Earth. In the sequel, following the comet’s impact that decimated much of Earth, the Garrity family is forced to abandon the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a devastated world in search of a new home.

“Space agencies are monitoring the fragment and predicting an extinction-level event. The best chances of survival are the bunkers in Greenland. Go,” warns the voice-over in the released trailer. “It’s been almost five years now, so it’s not really that new anymore,” says John. Everyone has grown weary of confinement: “Do you think there’s a place safe from all this?” Allison asks. The safe place might be in southern France: “How will we get there?” They decide to embark on the journey, facing magnetic storms and torrential downpours.

The cast features Gerard Butler, recently seen in Attack on Power; Morena Baccarin, who starred in Deadpool 2. Performing alongside them are Scott Glenn, who worked on the TV series Castle Rock; Amber Rose Revah, who worked on episodes of Inverso - The Peripheral. Direction remains with Ric Roman Waugh, who previously directed Attack on Power 3 - Angel Has Fallen. The first movie grossed $53 million at the worldwide box office.

Greenland 2: Migration, filming and release date of the movie

The production companies are Anton, Thunder Road, G-Base, and CineMachine. Filming began in April 2024 at Shinfield Studios and in Alton, Hampshire, as well as in Iceland, concluding in July. “The success of Greenland compellingly demonstrated what a man is willing to do to protect and provide for his family despite the most catastrophic adversities,” said producer Sébastien Raybaud, as reported by Deadline. The movie releases in the United States on January 9, 2026.
