The box office ranking of the most-watched movies in the United States from December 19-21, 2025 - with still provisional data - sees newcomer “Avatar: Fire and Ash” in first place ($88,000,000). Jake and Neytiri’s family faces grief after Neteyam’s death and encounters a new, aggressive Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, led by Varang, while the conflict on Pandora intensifies and a new moral orientation emerges.
David
In second place is another new release, the animated movie “David” ($22,017,322). The biblical tale focuses on David, who transforms from a humble shepherd to defeating Goliath and becoming king.
The Housemaid
Entering the chart at third place is “The Housemaid” ($18,950,000): a struggling woman is happy to restart working as a domestic helper for a wealthy, elite couple.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
Arriving in fourth place is “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” ($16,000,000): SpongeBob journeys to the ocean depths to confront the Flying Dutchman’s ghost, facing challenges and unveiling marine mysteries.
Zootopia 2
Dropping to fifth place is “Zootopia 2” ($282,809,929 total): brave rabbit police officer Judy Hopps and her friend, fox Nick Wilde, team up to solve a new case, the most dangerous and intricate of their career.
New Entries
Another newcomer lands at eighth place with “Marty Supreme” ($875,000): Marty Mauser is a young con artist who transitions from a career as a gambling player to winning twenty-two ping pong championship titles.
At twenty-second place is “The Voice of Hind Rajab” ($50,730): Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A six-year-old girl is trapped in a car under IDF fire in Gaza, begging to be saved. While trying to keep her in contact, they do everything possible to get an ambulance to her.
