Comedy-Action Movie Anaconda: Attacked by the Snake with Paul Rudd and Jack Black

Anaconda, the plot of the movie

Anaconda is the action and comedy movie currently in production. The plot centers on Doug (Jack Black) - a wedding videographer - and Griff (Paul Rudd) - an actor who works as an extra - who venture into the Amazon rainforest to remake their favorite movie from their youth, Anaconda.

The situation changes dramatically when a real giant anaconda appears: the chaotic set transforms into a deadly trap. “This will be an epic adventure. We’ve dreamed of shooting this movie our entire lives,” Doug tells Griff in the released trailer as they arrive in the forest. When the snake dies, they must go deeper into the jungle to find another one. Here, they are attacked by an enormous anaconda, which kills two cast members. “He’s alive. I thought you checked his pulse,” Griff tells his colleagues, referring to Doug, whom they believed dead.

Paul Rudd has starred in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Ghostbusters - Frozen Threat, and in Death of a Unicorn with Jenna Ortega. Jack Black voices Claptrap in Borderlands, Bowser in Super Mario Bros, and has worked on both Jumanji movies. Also featured are Thandiwe Newton in the role of Claire Simons, Doug and Griff’s friend; Steve Zahn, playing a crew member.

The movie is directed by Tom Gormican, who previously directed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and That Awkward Moment. The movie is a reboot of Anaconda, the 1997 movie starring Jon Voight and Jennifer Lopez: in that version, a National Geographic crew is taken hostage by a crazed hunter, who forces them to join his quest to capture the world’s largest - and deadliest - snake. The movie grossed $136.8 million, and in March 2024, a Chinese-produced remake was released.

The production is by Fully Formed Entertainment and Sony Pictures. Filming took place in January and February 2025. The movie will be released in U.S. theaters on December 25, 2025.
