M.I.A.: Peacock's New Crime Thriller Between Revenge and Drug Trafficking in Miami
Revenge takes on the neon colors of Miami. M.I.A. is the crime series that debuts on May 7, 2026 with nine episodes available in binge mode. NBC will broadcast the pilot in prime time on May 14 at 10:00 PM ET/PT, one week after the launch on the streaming platform.
A Shattered Family, A Young Woman Seeking Justice
Etta Tiger Jonze lives in the Florida Keys, but her dreams look toward Miami, a subtropical kingdom of glittering lights and promises. When her family's drug trafficking business shatters in a tragedy that leaves dead on the ground, Etta becomes the sole survivor. The released trailer reveals that the young woman must find and kill a dozen men responsible for the massacre, while they in turn are hunting her.
Etta's journey through Miami's dark underbelly, illuminated by neon signs, will become the path that defines her identity and the limits of her capabilities. By her side, two new allies: Lovely and Stanley, played respectively by Brittany Adebumola and Dylan Jackson. The series thus interweaves Miami's two largest communities, the Latino and Haitian ones.
Bill Dubuque Returns to Crime Drama After Ozark
The series bears the signature of Bill Dubuque, who co-created Ozark for Netflix. Dubuque holds the role of writer and executive producer, while Karen Campbell assumes the position of showrunner, executive producer and writer. Alethea Jones directs and produces the first two episodes, followed by Gwyneth Horder-Payton for the third, Marizee Almas for the fourth and fifth, Ben Semanoff for the sixth and seventh, and John Dahl for the eighth and ninth episode.
MRC is the production studio, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling distribution. Peacock ordered the series directly in 2024, without going through a traditional pilot episode.
