Michael 2 Movie, News About the Sequel - plot
Discover Michael 2, the drama movie about Michael Jackson. Plot, cast
Michael 2, the Possible Plot of the Movie
Michael 2 is the drama and biopic movie not yet entered into production. It would be the sequel to Michael, the movie now in theaters, which tells the childhood and rise to success of singer Michael Jackson.
Lionsgate executive Adam Fogelson told The Hollywood Reporter on the movie's red carpet: "We definitely have more to tell... We've prepared for that moment." The movie also ends with a recently added caption that reads "His story continues," just as the movie ends at the beginning of Jackson's "Bad" tour.
The sequel, however, should still avoid the phase of the artist's sexual abuse allegations. In fact, various legal issues have plagued the movie, so much so that numerous additional shoots, a long delay, and a complete reworking of the third act were necessary. IndieWire confirmed that about 30% of the material initially shot for Michael remained unused, and that part of this could be incorporated into a sequel. However, it's unclear what specifically this material consists of.
Michael initially envisioned Jackson fighting against sexual abuse allegations, and much of the story was supposed to be focused on his case. However, the terms of an out-of-court settlement in one of the cases prevented Jackson's heirs from representing the accuser's family in the movie. Fuqua stated in an interview with the New Yorker: "I filmed him being stripped naked, treated like an animal, a monster," during a scene set during a raid on Jackson's Neverland ranch.
Michael 2, the Possible Cast of the Movie
John Logan's screenplay is not yet complete and the studio will also have to coordinate the cast's commitments and salaries for the sequel. Fogelson confirmed that discussions about a sequel would depend on the movie's critical and commercial response.
If the movie starts from the Bad tour, the hagiographic aspect will have foundations to build on: started on September 12, 1987 in Japan and concluded on January 27, 1989 in the United States, it was sponsored by soft drink producer Pepsi, and grossed a total of $125 million, becoming the second highest-grossing tour of the '80s after Pink Floyd's Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour. It was the tour with the highest number of spectators in history.
Certainly in the sequel will return Jaafar Jackson in the role of Michael Jackson, Colman Domingo in that of father Joseph Jackson, and Nia Long as Katherine Scruse-Jackson, the mother.
Miles Teller will be John Branca, Jackson's lawyer, and KeiLyn Durrel Jones will still have the role of Bill Bray, Michael's bodyguard. Jessica Sula will play La Toya Jackson, Michael's older sister.
The direction could still be by Antonio Fuqua. The movie has grossed $219 million so far.
