Most-watched movies of the week: 'Fast X' and 'Master Gardener' are the new releases

The box office of the most-watched movies in the United States May 19-21, 2023, sees newcomer Fast X ($67,017,410) in first place: Dom Toretto and his family are the target of the vengeful drug kingpin's son, Hernan Reyes (read previous ranking). 

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. 

In second comes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (266,950,335 euros): Peter Quill creates a team to defend the universe and their friend Rocket after an attack executed by Adam Warlock. In third loses one position The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($549,090,920): Mario and his brother Luigi - plumbers living in Brooklyn - get sucked into a pipe system, and find themselves in the Mushroom Kingdom and the Dark Land. Mario must save his brother from the evil Bowser. 

Book Club: The Next Chapter and Evil Dead Rise. 

At fourth comes Book Club: The Next Chapter ($13,126,605): four friends - with their book club - travel to Italy, on a journey of fun and unexpected discoveries, but nothing goes as planned. In fifth is Evil Dead Rise ($64,150,692): two sisters face the rise of demons that force them into a battle for survival.  

Another newcomer is in fourteenth place, with Master Gardener ($264,866): a meticulous horticulturist tends the grounds of an estate and panders to his employer, a wealthy widow. In 24th is Sanctuary ($64.971): a man believes that money, a woman, and fame are all connected ala victory in a ring, and participates in a sumo rikishi competition.
