Reminders of Him, Susan Serrao interview
"My favourite role to date would be from got milf? Sketch Comedy Special."
Welcome Susan Serrao to the cast of Reminders of Him, coming out on March 12, 2026. Can you introduce your role in the plot development? Who do you play and how does your role fit into the narrative?
I play Madelyn, Lady Diana's mom. I invite Kenna, the main character, to a Mother's Day brunch in the courtyard. At the brunch I welcome Kenna and share in the fun of the celebration with the whole community that gather every year. It's important to the story as Kenna, for the first time since going to jail, is welcomed into a community and shown love without judgement.
Lauren Graham is also in the cast of Reminders of Him. Do you have any anecdotes you can share with your fans about filming on set?
I didn't get to work with Lauren. I am excited to see her performance - I know she will bring incredible depth to her character's story. I was lucky to work with Maika Monroe, Monika Myers and Jennifer Robertson. These women are such a joy to work with. Jennifer had me laughing from the hair/makeup chair at the beginning of the day to the shuttle back at the end.
If there is one, what is your favorite role you have played to date?
My favourite role to date would be from got milf? Sketch Comedy Special. It was such a joy bringing those characters to life and having a laugh with all the cast and crew. Other shows that were incredible to be part of are, of course, Reminders of Him, Fargo, Unspeakable: The JonBenet Ramsay Story and Racclone Lodge.
In addition to acting, you work as a comedy writer and screenwriter, collaborating on various film and TV projects, but who is Susan Serrao really in everyday life? Do you have a favorite dish or a hobby you are passionate about? Which role you have played, if any, is most similar to you in everyday life?
I am a single mother of 4 incredible young men. I love to eat vegan food, practise yoga, qi gong and tai chi and travel. I was a professional dancer and choreographer - I still love to dance. I am most sad when I run out of chocolate.
You have also appeared in several short films during your career. Why short films? What contribution do short films make to cinema or television series? Why do you think they are so important and widespread, so sought after by fans?
Short films are a wonderful way of trying out an idea for all creatives involved. I love working with different people and playing different role. Short films are a great way to find people you enjoy working with and creatives that have similar vibes and flavours and also to learn from people with different views. I think people enjoy watching short films because they are entertaining, get a new idea across quickly and end sooner (if you aren't enjoying it!).
What future projects are you working on, apart from those mentioned here? Can you give your fans a sneak preview?
I recently played a fun role in my friend's feature film Racclone Lodge that was shot up in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. It is a hilarious and ridiculous comedy shot with an extremely generous and talented cast and crew, written by Jade Benoit. I am currently in development on a comedy series that I've created. As a creative who is always coming up with new ideas I have a feature doc Sketch, eh?, feature comedy Back Road, and comedy series Sea Legs in different stages of development. Along the way I keep auditioning for fun new roles to play. Feel free to follow me @iamsusanserrao.
