TV Series Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole, starring Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman
Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole is the series produced by Working Title that will debut on Netflix on March 26. Tobias Santelmann plays Harry Hole, the Norwegian detective created by writer Jo Nesbø, alongside Pia Tjelta in the role of Rakel Fauke and Joel Kinnaman as Tom Waaler, the protagonist's corrupt antagonist.

The series is based on Nesbø's novels, which have sold over 60 million copies worldwide. In Norway, sales have reached 5.6 million copies, surpassing the country's population. The adaptation maintains the structure of the serial thriller, focusing on the confrontation between Harry Hole and Tom Waaler, two detectives operating on opposite sides of the law.

Santelmann describes the character as a figure readers have followed for almost thirty years. The actor sought to respect Nesbø's work while building a version of the detective that also works outside the books. Kinnaman emphasizes the importance of shooting in Oslo, the city that runs through Nesbø's novels, to give authenticity to the narrative. Tjelta, a reader of the books for years, considers Rakel Fauke a character many know and appreciate.

The plot follows Harry Hole, a brilliant but tormented detective, in the hunt for a serial killer. At the same time, the protagonist seeks to bring Tom Waaler, his long-time rival, to justice. The series explores the gray areas of the criminal justice system, showing how the two characters move along blurred ethical lines.

Direction is entrusted to Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson. Jo Nesbø writes the screenplay, while Nick Cave and Warren Ellis compose the music. The cast includes Peter Stormare, Jesper Christensen, Kristoffer Joner, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Anders Danielsen Lie, and Ane Dahl Torp, among others. The series consists of nine episodes and will be available for global streaming from March 26, 2026.

The cast includes Tobias Santelmann (Exit, The Last Kingdom), Joel Kinnaman (The Suicide Squad, Altered Carbon, For All Mankind), Pia Tjelta (Made in Oslo, State of Happiness, Sonja: The White Swan), Peter Stormare (John Wick: Chapter 4, The Consultant).
