Zootopia 2 - The Plot

Zootopia 2 is the upcoming animated movie. The plot centers on Judy and Nick, who find themselves tracking a mysterious reptile that arrives in Zootopia and turns the mammal metropolis upside down. To solve the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover in new and unexpected areas of the city.

Ke Huy Quan, who voices the snake Gary De’Snake, has expressed his fondness for the character, as reported by Geeks of Color: “As we all know, we have a preconceived notion about snakes. Many of us fear them because we consider them venomous, malicious, and unsettling. We don’t want anything to do with them.” For him, Gary must face prejudice and discrimination, but “still maintains that kindness he has. That sense of wonder and curiosity. He doesn’t become negative or let it influence him in any way. That’s something that inspires me about this character.”

Speaking to The Latin Times and ENSTARZ, he also discussed the music: “I don’t think Gary has a song, but I’m proud to say he has his theme,” citing Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. “And we have a new song from Shakira”: the track is titled Zoo.

Jason Bateman, who plays Nick Wilde, stated: “I’m actually just beginning production, recording my lines. But, I can tell you that the sequel will be even better than the first. So, get ready for more adventures and mysteries.”

In the trailer, Judy and Nick attend a couples therapy session. However, they soon must return to work on the trail of a dangerous suspect.

Zootopia 2 - The Movie Cast

The voice cast features Ginnifer Goodwin as rabbit Judy Hopps, Jason Bateman as fox Nick Wilde, Ke Huy Quan as snake Gary De’Snake. Fortune Feimster is beaver Nibbles, Shakira is gazelle Gazelle, and Quinta Brunson plays quokka Dr. Fuzzby.

The music and lyrics for “Zoo” were written by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin, and Shakira. In addition to having written and produced the single with Shakira, Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin lend their voices in the original version of the movie for a cameo, as a pair of sheep called Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin.

The movie releases in US theaters on November 26, 2025.
