'That’s just the way the dice rolled', interview with author Jake Fraczek
The Waiting Room is the new book
Why did you also insert poems?
I wrote music and poems before I ever wrote stories. Some of my favorite writers were also great poets, or at least poetic in their storytelling. I did the same in my first book, and wanted to follow in similar style. They give me a chance to convey things the chapters may not, and in even shorter form. I like the rhythm it gives the overall book. There’s not too many current writers I am aware of mixing in poems amongst their stories. It’s important to me artistically to separate myself from the pack and be as original as one can be. Not like I’m reinventing the fucking wheel or anything, but it’s not just what you do, but how it’s done.
