Do you think there has been an increase in misinformation, inherent to gender identity, in recent years?

There is absolutely an increase in misinformation related to gender identity in the past few years, and this has widely been perpetuated by mainstream media and the organizations which lobby them, such as the Trans Journalists Association (TJA). The Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ), for example, adopted the TJA’s style guide, which states that journalists should refuse to interview, research, or publish feminist critiques to the “gender identity” narrative. This is despite the SPJ’s code of ethics which states that journalists should “Support the open and civil exchange of views, even views they find repugnant.”

Because of unethical tactics such as these, we’ve seen a viral spread of misinformation about “gender identity” with essentially zero pushback in mainstream media. This includes unethical reporting on medical transition by failing to represent the risks associated with medical interventions, misrepresenting a modern scientific understanding of human sexual dimorphism, and perpetuating false narratives about the perpetrators and victims of male violence (which puts public safety at risk).
