'With Superman's absence, the world found out just how important he was': interview with comic book writer Dan Jurges

Dan Jurgens is known for his work on the DC comic book storyline The Death of Superman and for creating characters such as Doomsday, Hank Henshaw and Booster Gold. As part of the DC Rebirth relaunch of 2016, Jurgens wrote Action Comics. He worked at the Green Lanterns series, and he was writer of the two-issue miniseries Convergence: Superman in 2015, and Superman: Lois and Clark from 2015 to 2016.^[31]

In Superman, you told the "Death of Superman". Why this choice?

We wanted to tell a good, entertaining story that could address the importance of Superman. If you take the entire story from "Death of Superman" through "Funeral for a Friend" and "Reign of the Supermen", I think we did exactly that. With Superman's absence, the world found out just how important he was, both in terms of our fictional stories and real life.
